YOGYAKARTA or JOGJA is the main tour destination of the island of Java in Indonesia. YogYES.COM provides you with information on tour destinations, hotels, restaurants, and other tourism related services to help you visit Yogyakarta / Jogja.
Yogyakarta (some people call it Jogja, Jogjakarta, or Yogya) is a city with outstanding historical and cultural heritage. Yogyakarta was the centre of the Mataram Dynasty (1575-1640), and until now the kraton (the sultan's palace) exists in its real functions. Also, Yogyakarta has numerous thousand-year-old temples as inheritances of the great ancient kingdoms, such as Borobudur temple established in the ninth century by the dynasty of Syailendra.
More than the cultural heritages, Yogyakarta has beautiful natural panorama. The green rice fields cover the suburban areas with a background of the Merapi Mountain. The natural beaches can be easily found to the south of Yogyakarta.
Here the society lives in peace and has typical Javanese hospitality. Just try to go around the city by bike, pedicab, or horse cart; and you will find sincere smiles and warm greeting in every corner of the city.
An artistic atmosphere is deeply felt in Yogyakarta. Malioboro, as the center of Yogyakarta, is overwhelmed by handicraft from all around the city. Street musicians always ready entertain the visitors of the lesehan food stalls.
Those who have visited Yogyakarta reveal that this city makes them long for it. Just visit here, then you will understand what this means.
Transportations to Yogyakarta:
| | Small groups, no more than 4 to 5 customers on one boat, with 2 of our dive guides/divemasters! | ||||||
| | Your safety and comfort are our first concern; we try to match divers with the same level of experience on a boat. | ||||||
| | Bunaken abounds with small treasures, the spectacular dropoffs hide all the macro secrets you ever dreamed of; so Froggies are not deep divers, we choose for long and slow dives. The occasional deep dive can be planned with the appropriate safety equipment. | ||||||
| | If you are looking for great "Muck Diving", observing small critters, exceptional anemones and bizarre looking fish, then Froggies can take you to those magic spots, either around Bunaken's National Park or on to Lembeh Strait. | ||||||
| | There are 30+ divespots that we choose from, depending on tides and currents. Chances are that you'll visit a different spot each time you dive. | ||||||
| | If you don't have your own gear, our rental equipment is first class and regularly serviced by our maintenance staff. | ||||||
| | Christiane and Tommy will welcome you at Froggies: she'll answer all your questions about diving in English, French, Dutch, Italian or German, and Tommy will help organize all your other activities. | ||||||
| | Accommodation in traditional wooden bungalows at Bunaken Island, close to the Dive Sites. | ||||||
| |||||||
| | We have replaced the air-con with fresh sea-breeze, at no extra cost... | ||||||
| | For guests that dive at Froggies we organize 4D/3N diving trips to the Lembeh Strait : we dive Lembeh during the day and we sleep aboard while the boat brings us there, to another location and on our way back to Bunaken. You do not have to miss a single day of diving! | ||||||
| | Advance e-mail reservation is recommended. If you just show up at the last moment, we might be already fully booked. | ||||||
The Entrance Fee to the Bunaken National Park will cost you around USD 15.- this year. The tag (locally called THE PIN) is valid for the whole year, the proceeds of which are used to fund the highly succesfull patrols, conservation activities and improvement of standards in the park. Illegal fishing activities have almost stopped, staff are hired to clean the beaches and the construction of a long needed jetty in Bunaken village is in progress. WWF, WNF and other NGO's are also helping with funds and projects for coral rehabilitation. |

Do you love authentic Thai dishes as well as American Thai combos? If you do and you love to eat such food, you are not alone, in fact these types of foods are amongst my favorites too. So, let me recommend a most excellent cookbook for you, one I am sure you will enjoy and thank me for later. The cookbook to which I refer is:
"Tommy Tang's Modern Thai Cuisine" by Tommy Tang; Double Day Publishing, New York, NY; 1991.
Tommy Tang is a master chef and owner of fine Thai Restaurants in Los Angeles and New York. This book has over 90 Thai Recipes in it, much more than his menu and many of these recipes are illustrated. This cookbook is unique in that it has a glossary of all the ingredients in the front and if you buy all those for your kitchen you will be able to prepare any of the fine dishes in the book. This sure makes it easy to make great Thai food at home.
I think you will enjoy the Thai Chili Fish and Thai Pasta, of course, for me it is hard to decide which is better Tommy's Duck recipe or his special sushi. Tommy dedicated this book to his mom with a great poem and judging by his generosity in sharing all this with the world, I'd say Tommy is the real deal and I'll be happy to eat in any of his restaurants, if I do not cook his delicious dishes in my own custom kitchen. This book is a must for those who wish to cook Thai food at home.
Tommy has a unique way of mixing and matching cultures to find the best of everything, some of the dishes are pure Thai and others are modified to fit nearly anyone's taste buds. The juries in; Tommy Rocks.
